Transition (yr2) were so lucky to meet Florence Nightingale in the flesh.
We started with a workshop in the hall, where Florence talked about her life, why she became a nurse and explained all of the wonderful things that she did to change the face of nursing. After answering some of the children’s questions, they each made their own nurses hat, just like Florence.
They then participated in a carousel of activities:
1. Florence led an activity with glitter and pepper, to show how germs spread.
2. The children had a picture of Florence and they painted wonderful portraits.
3. Since Florence Nightingale introduced healthy eating in hospitals, the children each made a fruit salad.
4. They also made lamps for the Lady of the Lamp.
It was such a fantastic morning! Thank you to Florence for coming to see us!
