Transition went to the Barbican to watch a concert put on by the London Symphony Orchestra. Presenter, Rachel Leech, led the concert, which was based on the award-winning children’s storybook – “I Need My Monster” by Amanda Noll with illustrations by Howard McWilliam.
The story was all about a little boy who cannot sleep without his friendly monster Gabe appearing first and we heard music by Saint-Saëns, Mussorgsky, Bartók and Leroy Anderson amongst others and a brand-new song for us to sing!
The orchestra instruments were amazing to hear and see in person and each song featured a different favourite – the strings, the brass, the percussion and the woodwinds.
An all-around fantastic day!
