At the end of April Lower Prep (Yr5) were excited to have a special visitor Mr Michael Hepburn (Director of Debate Hub at South Hampstead High Schiol) who came this week to teach them how to debate, in preparation for a competitition.

The session consisted of some warm up speaking /debating games, a skill session and then some practice debates involving the whole class.

The skill session helped Lower Prep create good structures for arguments and supported them with coming up with lots of ideas under pressure, plus different techniques for different types of arguments. It was a brilliant morning and we can’t thank Mr Hepburn enough for his expertise and support.

Members of the class were then selected to take part in the competition which took place this week. A big congratulations to the team who were fantastic. It was great to see them in action with some fabulous teamwork.
