Eco Committee and School Council

Eco Committee

Children in KS2 apply for a role in the Eco Committee annually. After the success of being awarded our first green flag last summer, the new dynamic team has helped to review our waste with the help of a local business. This has involved teaching classes how to recycle at different collection points and keeping a tally of our scores for reducing and recycling whilst ensuring general waste is kept to a minimum and then communicating back to the school in assemblies about how we are doing and where the waste is used.

School Council

School Council members in KS2 are elected after preparing a talk about what they can offer their classes and classes voting. After bringing initial requests from their classes to the first meeting, the committee collated a short list of achievable targets to improve the experience for the children and listening to pupils’ voices. Their project this year includes revamping and restocking book corners and giving children an opportunity to choose a one- off lesson in the summer term.
