Ofsted Report 2018

OFSTED Report 2018

We are delighted to share the findings of our recent Ofsted inspection with you in which Goodwyn School was graded as Outstanding in Early Years Provision and Outstanding in Personal, Welfare and Behaviour.

We are particularly pleased that the inspection team identified our ability to create an ethos, which is unique and nurturing where the progress of individual pupils is key and progress is well above national averages in English and Maths. Also significant is that inspectors recognised the new initiatives across the school, which have enhanced and enriched teaching and learning.

In our recent Inspection in April 2018 Ofsted commented that:

  • The proprietor and senior leaders work effectively as a team to bring about continuous improvements. Senior leaders have created a culture of high expectations in which pupils are able to make good progress across the curriculum. Leaders, including the proprietor, have been effective in creating a positive learning culture across the school. Consequently, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good and continues to improve.
  • There are positive relationships between staff and pupils which help them to achieve well. Pupils are prepared well for their next stage of education. The curriculum is broad and balanced and engages pupils well so that they make good progress. Children in the early years make exceptional progress because of the excellent quality of teaching and support they receive. Pupils’ attainment is typically high across the curriculum. Pupils are prepared well for their next stage of education when they leave at the end of Year 6.
  • Pupils are happy, feel safe and are well cared for. Their exceptional behaviour and positive attitudes towards their learning are strong aspects of the school. The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding. Pupils are confident learners and have excellent attitudes to their work. This, and their appetite for learning, has a very positive impact on the progress they make. The behaviour of pupils is outstanding. Pupils are very friendly, courteous and polite and conduct themselves extremely well around the school.
