Science is all around us. Children are naturally curious and are intrigued by the world and how it works. An appreciation and understanding of scientific principles plays an important role in helping them make sense of their surroundings and environment. At Goodwyn science is taught in a fun and practical way with lots of hands on activities and practical work which promotes high levels of pupil engagement.When teaching Science at Goodwyn we aim for all children to:

• Develop scientific knowledge and enable them to understand the world they live in.
• Have access to a wide ranging, differentiated and balanced Science Curriculum.
• Become thoughtful individuals who care for the environment and living things.
• Develop confidence in planning, carrying out scientific investigations and drawing reasonable conclusions.

What do the children at Goodwyn think of science:‘I love all the experiments, my favourite was dropping parachutes to test air resistance.’‘I enjoyed when the dentist came to visit to talk to us about teeth, he gave us a toothbrush!’‘We went to The Royal Observatory and it was fascinating to learn about all the planets. It brought our space topic to life.’‘I loved watching my seed grow into a beanstalk, it needed water to grow.’
